Gators drop two on road, sit ninth in HTJHL

The East St. Paul Gators dropped both games on a two-game road swing last weekend and remain ninth in the HTJHL standings following the losses.

East St. Paul opened the trip Saturday, Jan. 10, falling 3–1 at Ste. Anne, which sits fifth in the league. The Gators’ lone goal came midway through the third period when Jonah Chaulk scored at 7:39, converting a play set up by Zane Menard and Ethan Lukianchuk.

The Gators were back in action Sunday, Jan. 11, losing 4–2 at Springfield, the league’s second-place club. East St. Paul made a push in the third period with goals from Zane Menard at 3:26, assisted by Luke Tyslau and Ethan Lukianchuk, and Caleb Hofer at 7:59 to pull within one before Springfield added a late insurance marker.

Through 19 games, East St. Paul holds a 6–13 record for 12 points, sitting ninth overall. Macdonald continues to pace the league at a perfect 22–0, followed by Springfield and Niverville. Ste. Anne and Steinbach round out the middle of the standings, while Red River Mudbugs sit just ahead of the Gators in eighth.

East St. Paul remains on the road this week, visiting Steinbach on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 8 p.m., followed by a matchup with Red River on Friday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m. The Gators close out the stretch Sunday, Jan. 18, with a 6:30 p.m. puck drop at Niverville.
