Young musical talent showcased at winter concert

Date:

Music filled the air as talented students from Stonewall school choirs captivated their audience during École Stonewall Centennial School’s winter concert, Where Sound Begins, held in the school gymnasium on the evening of Jan. 29. Under the direction of Vhana Moldowan, with accompaniment by Kirsten Bennett, the Grade 5 and 6 choir performed three selections: Echo by Sally K. Albrecht, When the Party’s Over by Finneas O’Connell and Quiet by Tim Minchin. The Grades 7 and 8 choir followed with The Sound of Silence by Paul Simon, arranged by Roger Emerson; Lost Boys by Ruth B.; Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day; and Thula Klizeo by Joseph Shabalala, arranged by Leanne Macdonnell. Special guests, the Stonewall Collegiate Ramblers, directed by Kendra Obach and accompanied by Maggie Fitzpatrick, closed the evening with Winter Song by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson, arranged by Mac Huff; Dream a Little Dream of Me by Fabian Andre and Wilbur Schwandt, arranged by Andy Beck; and the upbeat Connected by Brian Tate, which had the audience snapping and clapping along.
