Falcons turn page to post-season, set to face Fishermen in opening round

The Lundar Falcons are embracing a clean slate as the Capital Region Junior Hockey League playoffs get underway.

After finishing sixth in the CRJHL standings, Lundar is set to face the third-ranked Selkirk Fishermen in a Round 1 best-of-five series.

The Falcons closed the regular season with a 5-19-0-3-3 record for 24 points, compared to Selkirk’s 17-10-0-1-2 mark for 55 points.

In five regular-season meetings, Lundar posted two wins and three losses against the Fishermen, including a 5-2 victory in the most recent matchup on Feb. 1.

Lundar will host Game 2 of the series and a potential Game 4.

The Falcons enter the playoffs riding a five-game losing streak after a 7-2 loss to the St. Malo Warriors last Tuesday at St. Jean Arena.

Lundar was outshot 53-24 in the defeat. Daniel Masters scored in the first period, while Ty Sadowski added the other in the second.

Netminder Seth Hasker finished with 46 saves in the loss as Lundar concluded its 30-game regular season.

Game 1 — Tuesday, Feb. 24, 7:30 p.m., Selkirk

Game 2 — Saturday, Feb. 28, 7 p.m., Lundar

Game 3 — Sunday, March 1, 3 p.m., Selkirk

* Game 4 — Wednesday, March 4, 8 p.m., Lundar

* Game 5 — Friday, March 6, 7:30 p.m., Selkirk
