Local gymnasts shine at St. Andrews gymnastics competition

Date:

It was a day full of tumbling, laughter and cheers for several Moosehorn Tumblers gymnasts at the St. Andrews Gymnastics Club competition on Feb. 28.

The athletes joined gymnasts from St. Andrews, Teulon, Grande Pointe and Grandview, with club president Mandy Gall describing the day as a “positive experience for all members.”

Every gymnast received at least one medal or ribbon, contributing to a successful competition.

This marks the club’s first year operating a competitive program, and the entire season has been a highlight for coaches, gymnasts and the volunteer board of directors on both the recreational and competitive sides of the organization.

The club recently received a grant through the From the Ground Up program, allowing them to purchase new equipment and support their goal of maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.

“A priority for our club is to make our programs as accessible as possible by keeping registration fees as low as we can,” Gall said. “We also strive to provide quality programming from amazing instructors by keeping class sizes small and maintaining a supportive environment.”

Moosehorn Tumblers welcomes gymnasts from Moosehorn and surrounding communities and currently has about 100 athletes registered this season.

Looking ahead, Gall said the club hopes to continue developing its programs.

“We hope to have our gymnasts continue to reach their highest potential,” she said, “and allow our club to evolve to meet their changing needs.”
