The Marquette Curling Club hosted its annual youth bonspiel on March 14, featuring eight teams of athletes aged five to 13 from Marquette and other communities across the Interlake.

Payton Malfait, Cameron Jessup, Seeley Burke and Gabrielle Rawdon celebrate their win at the Marquette Curling Club youth bonspiel on March 14

Krysta Prevost, who helped organize the event, said the day was thrilling from start to finish.
“The clubhouse was packed to cheer on our young curlers, and the kids really rocked the ice with their curling skills,” she shared in a Facebook post. “Congratulations to all of our young curlers for giving it their all and more. We are so proud to host such a wonderful event.”
Taking home gold were Payton Malfait, Cameron Jessup, Seeley Burke and Gabrielle Rawdon. Although the team is new to the club, their parents grew up in Marquette.
The silver medal team included Mackenzie Gaudrault, Aalyiah Burke, Emmett Walsh and Brexton Warthe, all players with the Marquette Curling Club.
A sharp-shooter “draw to the button” competition was also held, with Jase Campbell reigning victorious.
Dedicated volunteers contributed to the success of the event, helping keep the athletes fed, preparing the ice and supporting the young curlers both on and off the sheet.
“Until next year — we hope to see you all back,” Prevost added.
