Interlake players named to Baseball Manitoba provincial boys teams

Date:

Baseball Manitoba has announced the players who will sport the black and gold this summer as part of Team Manitoba at the boys 14U, 15U, 16U and 17U national tournaments.

All four rosters were released last week, with Interlake representation on each team.

The boys 14U development team includes Stonewall’s Crew Corbett of the 15U AAA Interlake Orioles as the lone Interlake representative. He will be part of the team training for the 2026 14U Western Selects, scheduled for Sept. 3-6 in St. Albert, Alta.

Corbett was also selected to the 15U provincial team as one of the youngest players on the roster.

He will be joined by Stonewall’s Jake Fortin and Alex Walker, both of the 15U AAA Interlake Orioles, along with St. Andrews’ Jensen Freiter of the 15U AAA North Winnipeg Pirates, giving the 15U provincial team four local players.

The quartet will represent Manitoba at the 2026 Ray Carter Cup, also known as the 15U Nationals, from Aug. 20-23 in Summerside, P.E.I.

The boys 16U development team has one local player in Narol’s Declan Fisher, who plays summer ball for the 18U AAA Elmwood Giants.

Fisher and the 16U squad will also represent Manitoba at the 2026 16U Western Selects from Sept. 3-6 in St. Albert.

Baseball Manitoba also named Grosse Isle’s Ashton Baldwin of the 18U AAA Interlake Orioles and St. Andrews’ Koen Nickel of the 18U AAA North Winnipeg Pirates to its 17U youth team.

Joining the team as an assistant coach is Stonewall’s Eric Swanson, the current head coach of the 18U AAA Interlake Orioles.

The team will compete at the 2026 17U Canada Cup from Aug. 5-9 in Summerside.
