Road win helps Sr. Jays climb out of WSBL basement

Date:

The Stonewall Sr. Blue Jays made a much-needed return to the win column in last week’s Winnipeg Senior Baseball League play.

Stonewall downed the third-place Carillon Sultans 9-5 at A.D. Penner Park in Steinbach for its second win of the season.

The Jays have continued to have Carillon’s number in Steinbach this season, having won both meetings at A.D. Penner Park.

With the win, Stonewall has started its climb out of the WSBL basement and is now tied with three other teams for sixth place with a 2-4 record.

It was a light week for the Jays, with just one game on the schedule before returning home this week for games against the Elmwood Giants (3-2) and St. Boniface Brewers (2-4).

Due to press deadlines, the result of Monday’s game against Elmwood was unavailable at press time.

Upcoming game:

Wednesday, June 10 vs. St. Boniface Brewers, 7:30 p.m. at Quarry Park
