Canadian singer-songwriter performs at Ship and Plough

Date:

Last Saturday, music lovers enjoyed an extraordinary musical experience at the Ship and Plough in Gimli. Sierra Noble, the renowned Canadian singer-songwriter and fiddle player graced the stage with two sold-out performances.

Noble’s first two-hour show of 55 guests sold out the day the tickets went on sale.  In light of this, Ship and Plough owner, Scott Carman, asked for a second show which was also a sell-out.

“The only other times we’ve done back-to-back dates were with blues veteran Big Dave McLean in November and Kaos from Canada’s Drag Race last March,” said Carman.

Carman is grateful that people from Gimli and throughout the Interlake are supporting the live music scene. Ticket holders are coming out for shows from Winnipeg and staying in the local hotels. They shop and eat at other establishments, which is great for the town.

The crowd response was enthusiastic, especially for the up-tempo fiddling and story-telling.

Noble treated the crowd to their first hit “Possibility” and their first single from the new Sierra Noble entitled “Let Me Out of Here”. Noble was surprised at the huge response to their show dates and grateful for the opportunity. They were pleased with the warmth of the community.

“Gimli is lovely and the people are great.”

Noble is planning some new material and a summer tour, and Carman hopes to bring them back soon.

At the age of 13, Noble debuted their first album of traditional Metis fiddle music. After the successful release of “Possibilities”, they took their performances worldwide. Sharing the stage with legends like Sir Paul McCartney, Bon Jovi, and Johnny Reid, Noble has also had the honor of being the featured performer at the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Their music has been featured in various TV shows over the years. In addition to critical acclaim, Noble has also received numerous accolades including The Queens Golden Jubilee Medal, the Veterans Affairs Canada Commendation, and the Canadian Red Cross Young Humanitarian of the Year Award. Most recently, they were accepted into the Music Publishers of Canada Women in the Studio Program.

After taking a few years to reflect on their music and the message they want to give to the world, Noble has returned. With unapologetic honesty and a newfound embrace of their non-binary identity, they are confidently paving their own unique path in their upcoming music.
