Interlake’s Aaron Cockerill has placed ninth in the Amgen Irish Open.
Cockerill, 32, shot an even (71) in Sunday’s final round at Royal County Down GC to finish the tournament only seven shots back of Denmark’s Rasmus Hojgaard who won the tournament.
Cockerill played a very steady tournament shooting 71 on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, while carding a 69 on Friday.
Heading into the weekend, Cockerill was in the mix of players within a handful of strokes of the lead that was held by former world number one Rory McIlroy who ended up finishing second.
Cockerill’s ninth place finish was his highest finish of the DP World Tour season. He accumulated 101.0 Race to Dubai Points that go to his overall total of 822.34.
He is now 39th in the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai and is ranked 279th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
