Gimli pickleball players represent Manitoba at Canada 55+ Games

Date:

Gimli’s pickleball players came out swinging last month at the Canada 55+ Summer Games that were held in Quebec City from Aug. 26 – 30.

Isabelle Tache, Ute Vann, Edwin Reichert and Jack Reeb represented Manitoba at the games.

Edwin Reichert competed in the men’s doubles with partner Jack Reeb (not shown) and the mixed doubles with Isabelle Tache. Isabelle Tache and Ute Vann placed 4th in the women’s doubles.

The team had qualified at the Manitoba 55+ Games, which was held in Brandon in June.

The Canada 55+ Games draws about 2,500 competitors from across the country. In addition to pickleball, 55-plus athletes compete in sporting events such as track and field, 5- and 10-kilometre runs, badminton, bowling, golf, baseball, swimming and tennis. There are also games of intellect such as cribbage, scrabble and bridge.

Winnipeg will be hosting the Canada 55+ Games in 2026.
