The Pembina Valley Orioles’ season got off to a mixed start as they faced off against the Elmwood Giants and the Altona Bisons in Manitoba Junior Baseball League action this past week.
The team’s season opener May 14 saw them fall 18-13 to the Giants in Winnipeg.
They then bounced back with a 3-2 victory against the visiting Bisons at Arctic Field in Winkler Monday afternoon.
Altona, meanwhile, struggled against the Interlake Blue Jays in their second game of the season and home opener last Wednesday night. They lost that one 10-0. They had previously fallen 16-2 to the Giants a few nights before.
Coming up, Pembina Valley hits the road to play the Winnipeg South Wolves Wednesday, May 21, and then hosts the Interlake Blue Jays for a double-header on Sunday, May 25.
The Bisons play at the St. Boniface Legionaries Friday night and then host the Carillon Sultans for a double-header on Sunday.
