Sabers drop back-to-back games in WHSHL hockey week

The Sanford Sabers struggled in Winnipeg High School Hockey League Winnipeg Free Press Division, falling 5-1 in both of their games this week.

Sanford opened with a road loss in Springfield on Tuesday, Nov. 18, where they scored a pair of power-play goals. Cooper Rodewald struck first at 7:43 of the opening period off a setup from Austin Iliffe and Andrew Schultz. Iliffe added a third-period man-advantage goal, assisted by Rodewald and Colton Boulanger.

Two days later, the Sabers returned home but dropped another 5-1 decision to Kelvin. Tanner Saley provided the lone goal midway through the second from Rodewald and Cale Wood.

Sanford is back in action Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 3:30 p.m. at CSLR.
