Gimli RCMP arrest three males after shots fired

Gimli RCMP responded to a report of gunshots from a residence on Highway 8 around 5:30 p.m. on January 4, within the RM of Gimli. 

Upon arrival, officers learned that three males had approached the residence, threatened the male occupant, and forcibly kicked in the front door. During their escape, the victim’s dogs chased the suspects, and one of the animals was shot, resulting in injuries.

Immediately, officers began patrolling for the suspect vehicle and, through their investigation, located the three suspects at a rented residence in Gimli. A search warrant was executed at that location, leading to the seizure of a .357 Magnum, $17,000 in cash, and various prescription medications. 

All three suspects were arrested without incident at this residence.

Gimli RCMP have charged Arthur Mills, 23, J’ziah Cassanova, 18, along with a 17-year-old male youth, all from Mississauga, Ontario.

All three have been charged with Break and Enter, Assault, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence, as well as various drug trafficking and Criminal Code offences.

They been remanded into custody.

RCMP advise this incident was not random, and there is no threat to the public.

The investigation continues.
