Ice Dawgs bow out in Game 4 of CRJHL quarterfinals

Date:

The Arborg Ice Dawgs came up short in their effort to keep their season going last Monday.

Entering Game 4 of their best-of-five first-round series against the La Broquerie Habs trailing 2-1 in the series, Arborg was in need of a victory to stay alive.

Their hopes — and season — however, came to an end when they were defeated 7-1 on home ice, despite only being outshot 40-36.

An Ice Dawgs goal scored in the second period by Brody Maxwell was as close as they got to tying the game.

The tally made it 2-1 early in the middle frame before a five-goal La Broquerie onslaught over the second half of the contest secured the series win.

Arborg’s Paxton Moore finished with 33 saves in the loss, while La Broquerie’s Jaxon Loewen ended with 35 in the opposing crease.

By winning the series 3-1, the Habs will now move on to the Capital Region Junior Hockey League semifinals, while Arborg’s campaign officially ends in the opening round for the third consecutive season.
