Outdoor performance of Moana Jr. delights crowd in Gimli

Date:

A large crowd gathered under sunny skies at Gimli Park Pavilion last Friday to enjoy a magical outdoor performance of Moana Jr., staged by the Gimli Junior Musical Theatre Summer Camp.

Dozens of friends and family members settled in lawn chairs or on blankets in the grass to watch 29 young performers, aged 6 to 14, bring the story of Moana to life with music, dance and full costumes.

Camp directors Stephanie Marks and Romanna Klymkiw launched the summer camp three years ago to showcase the talents of local and area youth.

The stage version, adapted from the 2016 Disney animated film, follows Moana’s journey across the Pacific to save her island and discover her heritage.

The one-day show was free to attend, with donations going toward a charitable cause chosen by the performers.
