Coffeehouse to End Cancer raises over $25,000

The 14th annual Coffeehouse to End Cancer held at the Grosse Isle Heritage Site last Wednesday was a huge success, raising over $25,000 for the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. Funds were raised through donations as well by the talented performers at the popular outdoor fundraising concert. Vendors who attended also contributed through their sales.

Left photo, Lakeside MLA Trevor King presented CoffeeHouse to End Cancer founder Paige Procter with a Meritorious Service Decoration lapel pin conferred by Gov.-Gen. Mary Simon. The award recognizes Canadians for exceptional deeds accomplished over a limited time that bring honour to our country. Procter has raised over $265,000 for CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. In the middle photo, Stonewall’s Jamie Yeo opened the evening with two of her favourite Taylor Swift songs.

Far-right photo, special guests, Two Crows for Comfort closed the show after an encore. The local duo of Cory Sulyma and Erin Corbin raised $750 and were awarded the Grandpa Jim Top Fundraiser Award. Pictured with Two Crows for Comfort is Paige Procter and co-hosts Elizabeth Codville and Brett Lawrence.

Other performers included Justin Anderson, Lost in a Small Town band members Trey King and Trevor King, Apple Fire, Alyssa Christensen and Braden Lussier, Lexi and Daisy, Teagan Sheppard and Kaitlyn Greigson. Guest speaker, author Erika Willows shared her story about how her family navigated grief after the loss of her sister’s courageous battle with cancer.
