The East St. Paul Gators remained unbeaten in Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League play with a 3–2 win over the Red River Mudbugs this week.
After a scoreless opening period, the teams traded goals early in the second. Caleb Hofer opened the scoring for East St. Paul at 6:03, before Red River replied with back-to-back markers to take a brief 2–1 lead. Brayden Alf tied the game at 17:43, finishing a passing play from Luke Tyslau and Chris Tataryn to send the game to the third period even.
The Gators took the lead for good at 5:45 of the third when Kaden Coughlin scored the game-winner, assisted by Alf and Tyslau. Both teams finished the night 0-for-4 on the power play.
Goaltender Zacharie Grenier was sharp throughout, making 51 saves to preserve the victory.
With the win, East St. Paul improves to 4–0–0, sitting fourth in the HTJHL standings, while remaining undefeated both at home and on the road. The Gators have scored 29 goals and allowed 14 through four games.
