Car crashes into Ritz Interiors; no injuries reported

Date:

RCMP are investigating after a vehicle backed into a business in Stonewall on Friday evening.

Emergency crews, including Stonewall-Rockwood firefighters and paramedics, were called to Ritz Interiors on Main Street after a car reversed through a front window and damaged part of the wall.

Staff were preparing to close for the night when they  witnessed the crash from an upstairs window.

“We saw the car being driven slowly across the parking lot, and then all of a sudden the driver reversed and smashed right into the building. There was a big crash and we heard the window smash,” said Carla Pasichnyk, who works at the store.

The vehicle was towed from the scene, and a restoration company was brought in to seal off the building and secure it. No injuries were reported. Despite the damage, Ritz Interiors reopened the next day.
