École Stonewall Centennial School Grade 7 students took part in a community cleanup on April 21, collecting garbage throughout the Town of Stonewall in recognition of Earth Day. Students also participated in a series of in-school learning stations focused on environmental topics, including carbon footprints, the impacts of fast fashion and plastic pollution in the oceans. Observed annually on April 22, Earth Day promotes environmental protection and encourages people to take action in caring for the planet. The day is often framed for students as an opportunity to give back to the Earth by keeping air, water and land clean for all living things. Activities also reinforced the importance of the “three Rs” — reduce, reuse and recycle — as part of everyday efforts to support a healthier environment for future generations.
