Signs of recovery are becoming visible across the region two weeks after historic flooding inundated homes, roads and thousands of acres of farmland. Water has largely receded from ditches and fields, crops continue to grow where floodwaters once stood, farmers have resumed haying and silage operations, and municipalities are rebuilding roads damaged by the storm. At the same time, piles of water-damaged furniture, drywall and personal belongings remain along residential streets as many families continue the difficult process of cleaning up and rebuilding their lives.
