Juventus move up Division 2 table with victory over winless Richmond

Date:

CSSE Juventus got back in the win column Friday with a much-needed home victory over the Richmond Kings.

The Stonewall-based club defeated the winless Kings 2-1 at Veterans Memorial Sports Complex thanks to timely goals and solid defensive play.

With the win, Juventus snapped a two-game slide and improved to 1-0 in June.

The victory also moved the club into a tie for sixth place in the Manitoba Major Soccer League Division 2 standings with the Kildonan Cavaliers, who have an identical 2-3 record.

Next up is a matchup with the Hanover Strikers (3-2), which should provide a test as the 18-game season reaches the six-game mark.

The match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Steinbach Credit Union Field in Steinbach Soccer Park.
