The RM of Woodlands is getting ready to celebrate its sesquicentennial in 2030, so the development of Park150 is underway.
Since breaking ground in October 2024, Park150 has welcomed a number of dignitaries from all levels of government to plant a tree recognizing their contributions to our municipality.
From 2025 to 2029, Park150 will is recognizing and celebrating the work and contributions of local residents, community groups and organizations with tree plantings.
“Park150 is a meaningful way for us to honour the people and organizations who have helped shape the RM of Woodlands into a strong and vibrant community across all corners of our municipality. Each tree planted represents a lasting tribute to their contributions and a legacy that will grow for generations to come,” said Bryan Myskiw, president of the Park150 board.
“We encourage individuals to submit nominations and help us shine a light on those who make and have made a positive impact in the RM of Woodlands. This is truly a community-driven initiative, and we want to ensure deserving individuals and groups are recognized.”
Up to 20 trees will be planted each year to recognize these individuals, groups and organizations. Over the course of the five years, 100 trees will be planted. The 2026 nominations are being accepted until June 15. Previous honorees are not eligible.
The 2026 recognitions will take place on Sept. 19 as part of National Forest Week. The Park150 committee will select and notify honorees in June. Any unselected nominations will carry over for consideration for future tree plantings. More info is posted on the RM of Woodlands website at rmwoodlands.ca.
