Storm FC edged by Spurs before Canada Day break

Date:

The St. James Spurs denied Arborg’s Storm FC a three-game win streak last Monday in Winnipeg.

Storm FC arrived at Buhler Recreation Park riding the momentum of back-to-back wins, having scored eight goals over their previous two matches.

But the club struggled to generate offence, falling 3-1 to the Spurs for their first loss since May 30.

The result dropped Storm to fifth place in the Manitoba Major Soccer League’s Division 4 standings, with a 2-2 record as of last Thursday.

It was their only game of the week ahead of a nine-day break in regular season action.

Storm FC returns to the field Thursday, July 3, against Azzurri—a club sitting just one point ahead with a 2-3-1 record through six matches.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Buhler Recreation Park, with a chance for Storm to leapfrog Azzurri in the standings.
