The 2026 Terry Fox Run campaign will officially get underway on April 12, marking 46 years since Terry Fox began his Marathon of Hope in St. John’s, N.L., to raise funds for cancer research.
To mark the launch locally, the Town of Stonewall will raise the Terry Fox flag on April 10. The flag will remain flying on April 12 for the official start of this year’s campaign. A specific time for the flag raising has not yet been confirmed, but details will be shared on the town sign outside the municipal office, at the entrance to town and on the Stonewall Terry Fox Run Facebook page once finalized.
This year’s Stonewall Terry Fox Run is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 20 at Stonewall Quarry Park. Registration will begin at 12 p.m., followed by the run and walk at 1 p.m.
Participants will be able to register or make donations online starting April 12 through the official Terry Fox Run website. Organizers encourage residents to check the site on launch day, as matching donation incentives are often available.
Community support will again play a key role in fundraising efforts. The Stonewall Kinettes are returning with their “Walk with Kin in May” initiative, inviting participants to walk a total of 100 kilometres throughout the month. More information can be found on the Stonewall Terry Fox Run and Stonewall Kinettes Facebook pages.
Organizers say they are grateful for the continued support from the community as they work to advance cancer research and carry forward Fox’s legacy.
Planning for this year’s campaign is already underway, and volunteers are welcome to get involved. Those interested can contact organizers directly at 204-467-5842.
