Young philanthropist giving back

Date:

Birthdays are often filled with cake, balloons, and shiny gifts. But for Maitilda Margetts, turning 9 on June 30, took on a deeper meaning this year.

Maiti received an early birthday card from the Children’s Hospital which initiated a very meaningful conversation between her mom and dad. Maiti learned that she had been born premature and spent precious early days in the Children’s Hospital NICU.

On Maitilda’s first birthday, her parents decided that in lieu of gifts, they would ask for a donation in Maiti’s name to the Children’s Hospital.

Maitilda thought this was a great idea and decided that she wanted to do the same thing.

This year, rather than asking for presents, Maitilda encouraged her friends to give back to the place that helped her thrive. Maiti even decided to donate the money that she was given to spend while on their family vacation to Clear Lake!

Maiti’s story is not just about celebrating another birthday — it’s about making a difference in the lives of others.
