Teulon’s Cockerill qualifies for DP World Tour Championship

Teulon’s Aaron Cockerill is off to the DP World Tour Championship after finishing tied for 46th at the Abu Dhabi HSCH Golf Championship over the weekend.

Cockerill finished the tournament with an overall score of -10 including a -4 (68) in Sunday’s final round at Yas Links Abu Dhabi.

His weekend was highlighted by a hole-in-one during Thursday’s opening round, which happened to be Cockerill’s 11th ace in his golf career.

With his T46 finish, Cockerill earned $57,000 in prize money, bringing his career earnings up to $2.9 million through 117 DP World Tour events.

He also earned 45.9 Race to Dubai points, bringing his season total to 1030.74. This puts him at 49th in the DP World Tour heading into next week’s championship.

Cockerill is currently in the midst of his best golf season since turning pro in 2015.

The 32-year-old will go for his first-ever DP World Tour Championship this Thursday to Sunday at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, U.A.E.

The final tournament of the DP World Tour this season, carries a purse of $14 million.

This season Cockerill has competed in 25 DP World Tour events, finishing as high as ninth at the Amgen Irish Open in September.
