4-H members heading to provincial competition

Young speakers from across the South Interlake region took centre stage at the area’s 4-H communications competition, hosted by the Teulon 4-H Club on March 23.

Thirty members from six clubs — Teulon, Argyle, Balmoral, Minerva, East Selkirk and the Selkirk Silver Spurs — competed in speech and visual presentation categories, showcasing creativity, poise and public speaking skills in front of nine judges and about 80 spectators.

Top finishers in each category earned the opportunity to advance to the Provincial 4-H Communications event, set for April 26 in Winnipeg.

  • Junior Speech: 1. Kyle Kirschman (Balmoral), 2. Henry Martens (Balmoral)
  • Intermediate Speech: 1. Allie Mauthe (Argyle), 2. Brock Marohn (Balmoral)
  • Senior Speech: 1. Colton Kachur (Balmoral)
  • Adult Speech: 1. Sarah Seniuk (East Selkirk)
  • One-Person Visual, Cloverbud: 1. Bailey Bernard (East Selkirk), 2. Molly Wlock (Selkirk Silver Spurs)
  • One-Person Visual, Junior: 1. Peyton Marohn (Balmoral), 2. Eva Mushaluk (Balmoral)
  • One-Person Visual, Intermediate: 1. Dominic Bernard (East Selkirk), 2. Claire Kirschman (Balmoral)
  • Two-Person Visual, Junior: 1. Jaxson Tronrud and Bentley Hein (Teulon)
  • Two-Person Visual, Intermediate: 1. Lyla Kroeker and Olena Saramaga (Selkirk Silver Spurs), 2. Allison Mushaluk and Melodie Verseval (Balmoral).
