The Manitoba Major Soccer League Division 3B playoff picture has become clearer with another week gone.
The Selkirk Strikeforce, who have held one of the six playoff spots all season, are sitting comfortably in fourth following last week’s play.
Last Monday, Strikeforce benefited from poor field conditions at Maple Grove Rugby Park, which gave them a forfeit victory over Wasps. The result goes down as a 3-0 Strikeforce win.
The win earned them a full three points, lifting them to 33 on the season ahead of last Thursday’s clash with second-ranked Maples FC at Maples Community Club Field.
Strikeforce struggled to keep up with the league’s top offence. Devin Racicot spoiled Maples’ shutout bid with a goal, but it wasn’t enough as Strikeforce fell 4-1.
The loss dropped Selkirk to 10-6-3 through 19 regular-season matches. They now sit four points back of third-ranked TDS and three points ahead of fifth-place Thunder FC.
The club will be tested again in its next match, scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 16, against TDS. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. at Shaughnessy Park Field.
