Raptors claim Provincial A varsity girls title

The Morweena Raptors capped a dominant weekend in Rivers with a straight-sets victory over the host Rivers Rams to claim the 2025 Provincial A Varsity Girls Volleyball Championship on Nov. 29.

Morweena rolled through round-robin play with a perfect 6–0 record, showcasing depth, consistency and late-set composure against a field of strong contenders.

The Raptors opened with a 25-16, 25-17 win over the Grand Rapids Wolverines before defeating the Reston Tigers 25-21, 25-18. They continued their momentum against the Wawanesa Warriors, earning another two-set win at 25-16, 25-19.

Two of Morweena’s toughest tests came in back-to-back three-set battles. The team rallied after dropping the first set to the Gilbert Plains Trojans, rebounding for a 21-25, 25-20, 15-12 victory. They followed with another come-from-behind effort against the Ste. Rose Celtics, closing out the match 20-25, 25-18, 15-12.

Morweena secured first place in their pool with a 25-21, 25-20 win over the Miami Marlins, setting the stage for the championship showdown.

In the gold-medal final, the Raptors delivered one of their sharpest performances of the tournament, controlling the pace from start to finish to defeat the hometown Rams 25-21, 25-11.

Miami went on to claim bronze with a 19-25, 25-22, 15-9 win over the Gilbert Plains Trojans.

With the title victory, the Raptors close out their season as Provincial A varsity girls champions, backed by an undefeated run and strong all-around team play.
