67s celebrate first win of the season Dec. 4

Date:

The Warren 67s wrapped a busy stretch in the Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League with a win and two hard-fought losses, highlighted by strong goaltending performances, timely scoring and some heated special-teams battles.

The 67s opened the week with a tough outing against the first-place Macdonald Swarm, falling 12–4 despite an early lead and multi-point nights from several players.

Ben McKenzie put Warren on the board at 5:43 of the first period, finishing a setup from Logan Gilkes and Brennon Chartrand. The Swarm responded with two before the intermission, then struck for four goals in the first seven minutes of the second to take control.

Warren continued to chip back. Colton Bruce scored at 1:52 of the second, and Gilkes added another midway through the frame. Affiliate player Matt Hawryluk scored Warren’s fourth at 4:43 of the third, assisted by Ethan Corbett and Dylan Riddell.

Goaltenders Dallas Shaver and Preston Laschyn split duty, combining for 45 saves. Macdonald went 1-for-1 on the power play while Warren finished 0-for-4.

The 67s rebounded with one of their most complete efforts of the season, doubling the Landmark Blues 6–4 on the strength of a pair of power-play goals and a 34-save win from Laschyn.

Justin Braid opened the scoring on the man advantage at 5:31 of the first period, followed by goals from Colton Bruce and Evan Roy for a 3–0 lead. Landmark scored in the dying second of the period, but Warren regained momentum when Gavin Winram buried a rebound midway through the second to make it 4–1.

Landmark climbed back within one in the third before Braid struck again on a power play at 12:08 — his second of the night and the eventual game-winner. Kaydyn McMahon added insurance at 16:59 to seal the win.

Warren finished 2-for-10 on the power play and killed off six of seven Landmark opportunities.

The 67s closed the week with a fast-paced 7–4 loss to the Mitchell Mustangs, who pulled ahead late in the second period and rode a hat trick from Lucas Jolicoeur.

Chartrand opened the scoring at 2:57 of the first before Mitchell responded with two. Aiden Prystupa tied it 2–2 at 15:32, but the Mustangs grabbed a 3–2 lead with 27 seconds left in the period.

Warren kept pace in the second. Bruce made it 3–3 at 10:20 and Chartrand netted his second of the night at 13:00 to tie the game 4–4. Mitchell regained the lead 45 seconds later and added two more in the third, including a shorthanded marker.

Laschyn was outstanding in the loss, facing 63 shots and making 56 saves to keep Warren within reach.

Upcoming game:

The 67s are back on the road Saturday, Dec. 13 when they travel to Grunthal for an 8 p.m. matchup with the Red Wings at Grunthal Arena.
