Interlake Lightning U18 wrap up league play

The Interlake Lightning U18 girls closed out their regular season with a 7–3 loss to the Pembina Valley Hawks in Warren on Feb. 13.

Ella Riddell opened the scoring for the Lightning, with additional goals from Blake Darragh and Lily MacGregor. Interlake then turned its focus to the playoffs, where it faced the first-place Winnipeg Ice in the opening round of the best-of-five Manitoba Female Hockey League postseason series. Game 1 was played Feb. 21, with the Lightning falling 5-0.

Game 2 was played Feb. 22 at the Hockey for All Centre, where the Lightning lost 7-1, with Ella Riddell scoring her team’s lone goal. Game 3 returned to VMSC on Feb. 24. No score was available at press time. Prior to puck drop, the Lightning recognized graduating players Lola Parkinson and Brianna Malmstrom. Both skaters spent one season with the club and plan to continue their hockey careers at the post-secondary level.
