The Manitoba Darts Association relaunched its youth program this season, culminating in the provincial championships held March 8. A total of 15 young players took part in the event, marking a significant step forward in rebuilding youth darts across the province.

Among those competing were athletes with ties to the Selkirk darts community, several of whom finished on the podium and secured spots at the Canadian National Darts Championship in Saint-Hyacinthe, Que.

In the junior girls division, Cassidy Sidlar captured the provincial title, leading a strong field that also included runner-up Saedie Montminy, Addison Zebinski in third place and Parker Carmody-Vallières in fourth. All four qualified to represent Manitoba at nationals.

On the junior boys side, Finn Fletcher claimed the championship, followed by Nkosa Antoine in second, Sebastian Fletcher in third and William Caoutte in fourth. Each will also compete at the national championships.

The results reflect growing momentum within the Selkirk darts scene, where youth participation has been steadily developing through local clubs and organizers.

The provincial event not only determined this year’s representatives but also signaled a renewed commitment to fostering young players in the sport. Organizers noted the importance of continued growth and support to ensure long-term success for Manitoba darts.

With eight athletes now preparing to compete nationally, the Selkirk area will be well represented as these young competitors take their skills to a larger stage.

The Canadian National Darts Championship is expected to bring together top youth players from across the country, offering Manitoba’s representatives a chance to test themselves against elite competition while continuing to build the sport at home.
