Dynamo Red headed to nationals

Date:

The Dynamo Red placed third among 34 teams at the Manitoba Volleyball Association 17U provincials held last weekend in Winnipeg. The team posted a 7-1 record, with its only loss coming in the semifinal to Bison Gold, who went on to capture the provincial title. In the bronze medal match, Dynamo defeated Winman Fire 25-23, 25-22. In semifinal action, Dynamo fell to Bisons Gold 15-25, 10-25. In the quarterfinal, Dynamo Red needed three sets to advance, defeating Dynamo White. Stonewall’s Julia Oliver was named a provincial all-star. The podium finish marks the fifth time in as many years the team has medalled at provincials, a run that also includes a national gold medal. The team now turns its focus to the national championship, set for May 15–17 in Calgary, Alberta.
