Community tradition

Date:

The Brant-Argyle School and the Brant-Argyle Parents Advisory Council celebrated a milestone May 8, hosting the 80th annual Argyle Tea at the Argyle Community Hall. What began as a Second World War fundraiser in support of the Canadian Red Cross has grown into a multi-generational community tradition. The event featured a bake sale, silent auction and entertainment by the school’s 46 students. Skits performed included The Substitute Teacher, Washington’s Dream, The Airport and Cinder-really, a retelling of the Cinderella story. Yuli and Lina Simonson also performed violin solos. Following the entertainment, students in grades 6 and 7 served sandwiches, dainties and beverages to guests attending the tea.
