Sisson brothers score holes-in-one two weeks apart

Date:

For many golfers, a hole-in-one is a once-in-a-lifetime achievement. For brothers Oliver and Malcolm Sisson, it happened twice in the family within a matter of weeks.

Oliver William Sisson, 13, recorded his first ace while competing in a Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour event at St. Boniface Golf Club. Using a 9-iron on the 140-yard fifth hole, he watched his shot find the cup.

“I knew right away that the ball had gone in,” said Oliver, who has been golfing seriously for the past three years.

Three other junior golfers witnessed the shot, making the memorable moment even more special.

Just two weeks later, younger brother Malcolm Elliot Sisson, 11, matched the feat at Scotswood Links.

Malcolm’s hole-in-one came on the 12th hole, also with a 9-iron. Unlike his older brother, he didn’t immediately realize what had happened.

“I was pretty happy,” Malcolm said when he discovered his ball had found the hole.

Witnessing the shot were his grandfather, Bill Sisson, father, Clark Sisson, brother Oliver and Ian Woods.

The brothers share a passion for golf and have each dedicated the past three years to improving their game. Oliver said one of the things he enjoys most about golf is that it is a sport he can play anytime while continuing to practice and improve. Malcolm enjoys the challenge of constantly trying to get better.

Despite already achieving one of golf’s rarest accomplishments, both boys remain focused on future goals. Oliver hopes to hit more greens in regulation this season, while Malcolm has set his sights on shooting under par for nine holes from the white tees at Scotswood.

With two holes-in-one in the family in just two weeks, the Sisson brothers have already created memories that many golfers spend a lifetime chasing.
