Two Interlake locals have found themselves in contention for Hockey Manitoba’s Boys U15 Program of Excellence Team.
Hockey Manitoba held its Boys U15 POE Top-40 camp from June 5-7 at Hockey For All Centre, which acts as the final round of tryouts before an official roster is named.
Among the Top-40 competing in the three-day series of games, practices, and team building events were St. Andrews’ Ryan Koenig on Team Black and Selkirk’s Owen Gilbraith on Team White.
Koenig is coming off a strong offensive season at forward for the U15 AAA RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg where he totalled 20 goals and 20 assists in 30 games, Gilbraith meanwhile represented the U15 AAA Winnipeg Thrashers on defence, where he posted three assists in his 30 regular season games played.
With Top-40 camp since concluding, Hockey Manitoba evaluators are now determining their list of players that will move on to the Boys U15 POE Competition Phase in August.
The Competition Phase is slated for Aug. 21-23 back at Hockey For All Centre.
