It’s been an unfortunate stretch of weather that has significantly disrupted the schedule for many Manitoba Major Soccer League clubs.
Stonewall’s CSSE Juventus are among those most affected, with back-to-back rainouts in June.
Juventus had their second consecutive match postponed last week. The team was scheduled to host CA River Plate (4-1) on Friday at Veterans Memorial Sports Complex before rain forced the cancellation.
They will now have to wait another week to return to the field when they take on United Punjab Sport Club (5-2) on Friday night at Veterans Memorial Sports Complex.
The stretch of cancellations has limited Juventus to just one match in June — a 2-1 victory over Richmond Kings (0-5-2) on June 5 at Veterans Memorial Sports Complex.
While many other teams have picked up points since then, Juventus have been forced to remain idle with a 2-3 record, leaving them eighth in the 10-team Division 2 standings.
They do, however, have the fewest games played in the division, which could prove advantageous as the standings tighten.
It also means they will be one of the league’s busiest clubs over the coming weeks, with seven matches already scheduled over the next six weeks.
Upcoming Game:
• Friday, June 26 vs. United Punjab Sport Club, 7:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Sports Complex
