Calling all ice fishing enthusiasts! The Carman and District Game & Fish Association is hosting their annual ice fishing derby on Saturday, March 9 on Stephenfield Lake.
Registration opens bright and early at 8 a.m. on the north side of the lake, so make sure to arrive in time to secure your spot. The derby will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and welcomes anglers of all ages. It’s not just about reeling in the big ones; it’s also an opportunity for families to bond over their shared love for fishing.
The registration fee of $30, is used for research analysis on Stephenfield Lake along with hosting future events throughout the year.
With over $3,500 worth of prizes waiting to be won, there is plenty of motivation to reel in that prize-worthy catch. In both the pike and perch categories, first and second place winners will receive hefty payouts – 50 per cent for first place and 25 per cent for second place.
For those feeling extra competitive or just looking for a fun twist, there’s even a category dedicated to catching the smallest perch. So if you’ve got a knack for finding those tiny fishies, this might be your chance to shine!
Kids’ prizes are also up for grabs.So parents can bring along their little ones who dream of becoming master anglers themselves someday.
