SHYoga Therapy in Carman has a new come at Active Living Centre

Date:

Beginning this week, there will be a new location for Yoga in Carman as Safe Holistic Yoga Therapy (SHYoga Therapy) will be saying hello to the Carman Active Living Centre and goodbye to the Bell Aura Bed and Breakfast.

Carman’s Jolene Knight offers safe, holistic yoga therapy with her SHYoga Therapy business. Knight would like to express her gratitude to Barb Alarie at the Bell Aura and Tawny Cox for the many years that yoga was held in the basement studio, as she says it truly was a sacred space to practice.

“It’s been an honour to teach in this space, and I look forward to creating a special space within the Active Living Centre so we can continue our practice together,” said Jolene Knight.

Knight has now partnered with the Carman Active Living Centre to continue offering Yoga Therapy classes to the Carman community. Holding classes at the Active Living Centre will be more accessible, and there will be more room to grow and make yoga available to more people.

Knight grew up in Carman, and after nearly 20 years away, she’s grateful to be back and sharing yoga therapy with the local community. Knight has been a yoga instructor since 2017 and became a certified yoga therapist in 2023, deepening her understanding of how this ancient practice can truly transform one’s health and well-being.

At its core, yoga therapy is about reclaiming the power of our breath—about bringing awareness to how we breathe throughout our practice.

Carman’s Jolene Knight and her Safe Holistic Yoga Therapy (SHYoga Therapy) business has moved locations and will be offering yoga classes starting this week at the Carman Active Living Centre.

“Krishnamacharya, the father of modern yoga and the lineage in which I was trained, famously said, ‘If you can breathe, you can do yoga,’” said Knight. “Yoga therapy embraces this philosophy by simplifying the practice, making yoga accessible to everyone. I specialize in working with students one-on-one or in small groups, creating individualized practices that honour each person’s unique needs.”

The idea that yoga is a deeply personal practice is still new to many, which is why that Knight also offers group classes in the Prana Flow, Prana Reset and Prana Restore categories, which guide students to experience the profound healing potential of yoga and give a glimpse to what a personalized practice could mean for them.

Prana Flow is a breath-led active morning practice with energizing sun salutes and pranayama. Prana Reset is an after-school practice for PRSD staff incorporating vinyasa and pranayama at Carman Elementary School. Prana Restore is a breath-focused relaxation practice incorporating gentle asana, pranayama and aromatherapy savasana.

For the current winter/spring session, Prana Flow is Tuesdays from 9:15-10:15 a.m. and Thursdays from 8-9 a.m. Prana Reset is Wednesday’s 4:15-5:15 p.m., and Prana Restore is Thursdays from 7 to 8:15 p.m.

If interested in signing up for yoga, Knight can be contacted at jolene@shyogatherapy.ca or 204-805-6618. You can also check out her website and sign up online at www.shyogatherapy.ca. Five-class packages are available for $85, ten classes for $160, or you can drop in for $20.
