The Lundar Trap Club celebrated a strong showing at the Manitoba Junior Shotgun Association Provincial Championships, with several local shooters earning podium finishes at the annual competition.

The provincial championship attracted 40 competitors representing six clubs from across Manitoba, including Lundar, Winnipeg, Portage, Pembina Triangle, Brandon and Virden, at the Brandon Gun Club on June 21.

Leading the way was Logan Halldorson, who shoots out of the Lundar Trap Club, capturing the overall provincial championship with an impressive score of 94 out of 100. Halldorson also earned the Most Consecutive Targets award after breaking the first 17 targets of the competition without a miss.

The provincial title continued what has become a dominant stretch for the 14-year-old St. Laurent shooter. One week later, Halldorson travelled to Edmonton for the Canadian Trapshooting Championships, where he captured four championship belt buckles by winning the junior handicap, doubles and two singles events. The performance marked another successful national appearance after previous championship victories in Brandon and Vancouver.

Halldorson began shooting competitively at age 10 under the coaching of Don Law after first being introduced to the sport by his father. He now helps coach both youth and adult shooters at the Lundar Trap Club and is currently ranked Manitoba’s top junior trapshooter.

Lundar shooters also claimed several age-class honours at the provincial championship. Finn Bieri placed second in the 12-13-year-old novice division, while Decklen Meisner finished third in the 14-15-year-old novice category.

Holden Bieri was crowned champion in the 14-15-year-old open division after defeating fellow Lundar shooter Kai Deogracias in a shoot-off. The pair finished tied in the main event before Bieri secured the victory in the tiebreaker.

Ava Bieri rounded out the club’s medal performances with a second-place finish in the novice ladies division.

The results capped off another successful provincial championship for the Lundar Trap Club, with its athletes combining for one overall provincial title, one divisional championship and several podium finishes against the province’s top junior shooters.
