Finding the true spirit of Christmas in kindness

Date:

It was a calm Christmas Eve, the stars twinkling high in the sky as he strolled down the busy street, watching people purchase gifts for their loved ones. As he gazed into the store windows, he wished he had the means to buy presents for those in need. He was alone now, and he knew too well what it felt like to be forgotten.

He closed his eyes and prayed for those struggling this Christmas. Suddenly a thought came to him: “I can give what money cannot.” He realized he could offer his time, his love and simple acts of kindness. He could volunteer.

A warm glow filled his heart. After all, isn’t that what the One who came to Earth that first Christmas taught us? With renewed purpose, he stepped into a nearby shelter and helped serve those in need. Later that night, he shovelled his elderly neighbour’s sidewalk. On Christmas Day, he shared a wonderful dinner with that same neighbour, no longer feeling alone.

Merry Christmas to all, and may you have a healthy and happy New Year.
