Students relocated after flooding damages Stony Mountain School

Date:

More than 50 students and staff from Stony Mountain School have been temporarily relocated to College Stonewall Collegiate following extensive water damage caused by flooding during a major storm on June 9. The flooding resulted in significant damage to portions of the school, forcing the relocation of classes while repairs and cleanup efforts continue. Students and staff are now being accommodated on the second floor of the collegiate, allowing learning to continue with minimal disruption. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed and a timeline for repairs has not yet been determined. No injuries were reported as a result of the flooding. The June 9 storm brought heavy rainfall to parts of the Interlake region, causing widespread flooding, overwhelmed drainage systems and water damage to homes, businesses and public infrastructure.
