U15 Lightning boys battle Manitoba’s best at POE camp

Date:

Eight members of the U15 AAA Male Interlake Lightning competed in a series of scrimmages at the Hockey Manitoba Boys U15 Program of Excellence Spring Evaluation Camp last Friday through Sunday at the Hockey for All Centre.

Lightning representatives included Jake Nychuk, Titan Kirkness, Aiden Isfeld, Tripp Warburton, Crew Corbett, Zachary Schram, Henry Gemmill and Jagger Tesluck among a camp roster of 136 skaters and goaltenders.

Formerly known as the Director’s Cup Prospects program, the Boys U15 POE is designed to provide high-performance players with the opportunity to develop advanced skills, as well as an introduction to the concepts needed to compete at an elite level.

Players were evaluated over the weekend by Hockey Manitoba scouting and coaching staff, who will ultimately determine the invite list for the Boys U15 POE Top 40 Camp in June, the second phase of the program.

Phase 3, the Boys U15 POE Competition Phase, follows the Top 40 Camp and is scheduled for August.
