Stonewall pair to join defending MCAC champion Cougars

Date:

The Assiniboine Community College Cougars will have some familiar faces on the team next season.

Stonewall’s Jordan Hudon and Rhea Myers have both made commitments over the past few weeks and will continue their volleyball careers in the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) with coach Kevin Neufeld’s Brandon-based squad.

Both Hudon and Myers spent the 2025-26 high school season with the Stonewall Collegiate Rams and are currently playing for their respective club teams.

They visited Brandon a few weeks ago, where they got a feel for the program before officially committing.

“Me and my mom went out, just asked some basic questions like how many times they practise in a week, kind of their deal, their program, what their strength looks like and everything, just to get a vibe of their team,” said Hudon, who committed in February.

She also took part in a team practice, where she knew for sure she wanted to join the Cougars.

“Everybody was super nice, super encouraging, coaching was great. They have an amazing coaching staff, had awesome drills, and everybody was right into it and so encouraging that I just really felt at home there,” said Hudon.

Myers’ campus visit was much the same. She met Neufeld, who recently won MCAC Women’s Volleyball Coach of the Year, along with many of the players she will now call teammates.

She will be one of seven freshmen on the team next season, while eight players will return from the Cougars squad that won its first MCAC championship this season.

“I also met a few of the girls and they were super nice and telling me all about how fun their season is, how awesome it is to play for Kevin and winning the MCAC championship was probably one of their highlights, and then they got to experience nationals too. It just sounded like a super fun time to be there, and they did well as well, so that helps,” said Myers.

Currently with the Interlake Volleyball Club, Myers’ spring and summer will consist of finishing the club season and taking part in the workout plan ACC has set out for her.

Hudon will follow a similar path while playing her club season for the Dynamo Volleyball Club in Winnipeg.

The two plan to live together in their first year, with Myers enrolling in the Comprehensive Health Care Aide program and Hudon in Business Administration.

They will begin official practices with the Cougars in early September. The season typically includes exhibition games in the first few weeks, with the regular season beginning in late October.
