Date:

The female U18 Pembina Valley Hawks maintained a slim hold on fifth place with a victory in their lone game of the week.

The Hawks picked up a 3-1 win Friday over the last-place Interlake Lightning to improve their record to 7-10-0 for 14 points, which has them one up on the Winnipeg Ice, three back of Westman, and four behind Yellowhead.

Casey O’Brien, Jessica Anderson, and Emma Durand with a shorthanded marker scored for the Hawks, while Madison Froese made 28 saves as Pembina Valley held a 30-29 edge in shots on goal.

The Hawks are now off until a busy stretch of four games in five days before they go into the Christmas and New Year’s break.

It starts with hosting the Winnipeg Ice Dec. 18 followed by the Winnipeg Avros Dec. 20. They then hit the road to Shoal Lake to take on Yellowhead Dec. 21 then return home to host Central Plains Dec. 22.
