Colby Darragh signs with Providence University College

Date:

Grosse Isle’s Colby Darragh is gearing up for an exciting chapter in her basketball journey. The talented Warren Collegiate Grade 12 student officially committed to play the 2025-2026 season for the Providence Pilots last week.

Signing with Providence University College in Otterburne, Manitoba marks a significant milestone for Darragh. It reflects not only her hard work but also her dedication to the sport she loves.

“I am very excited to be signing with Providence and to have this opportunity to play basketball at the next level,” she said. “I look forward to putting on the Pilots jersey and continuing to play the sport I love.”

The Pilots’ women’s basketball head coach Joel Coursey was impressed with Darragh’s athleticism and tenacity when he first saw her play.

“Colby is a talented player with a strong motor,” he said, “She can shoot the ball and defend the length of the court. She fits right into our style of play.”

Darragh’s journey in basketball has been shaped significantly by her father, Jason. As her coach, he recognizes the qualities that make Colby a standout player.

“She works as hard off the court as she does on it,” he emphasized, explaining that her dedication is evident in her routine—whether arriving early to sharpen her shooting skills or staying late after practice for extra drills.

Darragh also honed her skills at Evolve Basketball Development, where she seized every opportunity available to elevate her game further.

Darragh is grateful to her teammates and coaches who have pushed her to be the player she is today.

“I look forward to working hard to keep improving as a basketball player.”

The Pilots are currently defending both their MCAC and NIAC championship banners from the 2024 season.
